Dr. Luís Felipe Skinner is Bachelor in Marine Biology and M.Sc. in Ecology, both obtained from Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) in 1993 and 1998 respectively. The Ph.D. Degree on Biology was obtained in 2003 at Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (UERJ) and during 2014-2015 conducted his Post Doctorate on Ascidian Taxonomy and Species Introduction under the supervision of Dra. Rosana Rocha (UFPR).
Since 1997 teaches Invertebrate Zoology, Marine Biology and Marine Ecology in several Universities at Rio de Janeiro state. Since 2001, started his current position as Professor at UERJ, as Associate Professor.
In research activities, received several grants to study marine fouling communities, larval biology and ecology, the role of predation on ascidian diversity, ascidian taxonomy and distribution, and to perform Biodiversity inventories at Ilha Grande bay. Also, is responsible for Scientific Popularization projects including the participation of students and teachers of Brazilian secondary schools and as Curator of Photo Expositions about Marine Biodiversity from Ilha Grande Bay. It includes video production and management of information on social media as Facebook.
